| Abstract |
The author updates his two previous pieces, 'Hiawatha's Annotating' and
'Hiawatha's Supplementing', with information from the newly published volume of letters (Cohen and Wakeling,
Lewis Carroll and His Illustrators). The letters show that Carroll had not decided whether or not Hiawatha's subjects were from an English family or a North American Indian family (Frost seems to have decided for him), and that Carroll erased a porter and a barrow from the illustrator's last drawing.
